						<section><p>The officer who made the <span class="dictionary">levy</span> shall deliver the goods and chattels to the <span class="dictionary">sheriff</span> to whom such <span class="dictionary">writ</span> of venditioni exponas may be directed, upon such <span class="dictionary">sheriff</span>&#x2019;s producing to him such <span class="dictionary">writ</span> and executing a receipt for such goods and chattels. If the officer shall fail to deliver the same and return be made on such <span class="dictionary">writ</span> to that effect, the <span class="dictionary">court</span> from which it issued, upon <span class="dictionary">motion</span>, may give <span class="dictionary">judgment</span> against him and his sureties for the whole sum that the execution amounted to at the time of such failure, with interest thereon from that time.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 8-775; 1977, c. 617.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
