						<section><p>There is hereby created a <span class="dictionary">Department</span> of Historic Resources. The <span class="dictionary">Department</span> shall be headed by a <span class="dictionary">Director</span>.</p><p>The <span class="dictionary">Director</span> shall be appointed by the Governor to serve at his pleasure for a term coincident with his own. The <span class="dictionary">Director</span> shall be subject to confirmation by the General Assembly if it is in session when the appointment is made, and if not then in session, at the next succeeding session.</p><p>The <span class="dictionary">Director</span> shall also serve as the State Historic Preservation Officer for the purposes of carrying out the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (P.L. 89-665), as amended.</p></section></text><history>1989, c. 656.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
